Learning Outcomes and Lectures
After completing this course, the learner should be able to:
- Describe thoracic manifestations of connective tissue diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, and systemic lupus erythematosus
- Develop an approach to identifying the presence of an interstitial lung disease, determine the type of chronic lung disease, and list common causes of chronic patterns on CT
- Discuss how to identify an incidental thymic epithelial malignancy, apply the most appropriate imaging modality, and assign the 8th edition TNM stage classification
- Outline the updated TNM staging system for lung cancer, review specific TNM descriptors and synthesize into stages, and discuss impact on patient management
- Describe indications, challenges and opportunities, patient selection, procedure and techniques, and complications of CT-guided lung biopsy
- Describe the utility of imaging modalities to evaluate suspected chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, list typical and subtle imaging features, and discuss advances in imaging and treatmentReview the epidemiology of lung cancer, the evolution of lung cancer screening, and the American College of Radiology Lung-RADS™ classification system; Recognize CT’s limitations in characterization of thymic lesions and discuss how MRI problem-solves by adding diagnostic specificity.
