OBJECTIVES

- List the benefits and pitfalls of ultrasound in the GI tract.
- Identify ultrasound characteristics associated with pyloric stenosis, intussusception, small bowel obstruction, appendicitis, diverticulitis, Crohn’s disease, pneumoperitoneum and necrotizing enterocolitis.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Physicians, sonographers, PA’s, NP’s and other medical professionals involved with performing ultrasound in a primary care setting. Physician participants may include (but is not limited to) : primary care/ family medicine; internal medicine, emergency medicine, hospitalists, critical care, gastroenterologists.
